Privacy Policy

Effective date: April 29, 2026

Live Markets News (“we”, “our”, or “the site”) operates livemarketsnews.com, a free, read-only news aggregator. This policy explains what limited data we collect, how it is used, who we share it with, and the rights you have under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the UK GDPR, and similar laws.

We do not require accounts, do not sell personal data, and do not run email marketing. The categories of data we touch are essentially limited to anonymous traffic data and advertising cookies set by Google AdSense.

Who we are

Live Markets News is the data controller for personal data processed via this site. You can reach us at contact@livemarketsnews.com for any privacy question, data-subject request, or complaint.

Information we collect

The site has no sign-in, no comments, and no contact-information capture beyond what you voluntarily send us by email or via the contact form. Specifically:

  • No accounts: we do not create user profiles or ask for names, addresses, or phone numbers.
  • Server logs: our hosting provider (Vercel) records short-lived request metadata such as IP address, user-agent, referrer, and timestamp for security and abuse prevention. These logs are not used to build profiles and are deleted on Vercel's standard rolling schedule.
  • Article database: we store the public RSS content we ingest (headlines, summaries, source links) in a Neon Postgres database. This database contains no personal data about visitors.
  • Local storage in your browser: features such as the watchlist, portfolio tracker, dismissed-banner state, and theme preference are stored client-side in your own browser via localStorage. We never receive or transmit this data to our servers.
  • Contact email: if you email us or use the contact form, we receive your email address and the contents of your message via Cloudflare Email Routing. We use this only to reply to you and retain it for as long as the conversation is active or required for record-keeping.

Cookies & consent

We use cookies and similar technologies for two purposes: (1) essential site function and (2) advertising delivered by Google AdSense.

Essential cookies / storage include the theme-preference cookie, dismissed-banner flags, and similar items required to make the site work. These are set without consent because they are strictly necessary under GDPR Article 5(3) and the ePrivacy Directive.

Advertising and analytics cookies are set by Google AdSense and its measurement partners and are used to serve and measure ads, including personalised ads where consent is given. For visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, we display Google's Funding Choices Consent Management Platform (CMP) before any non-essential cookies are stored. You can:

  • Accept all cookies, including personalised advertising;
  • Reject non-essential cookies — you will still see ads, but they will be non-personalised;
  • Manage your choices granularly per partner via the CMP;
  • Reopen your consent choices any time using the “Cookie preferences” link in the site footer.

For users outside the EEA/UK/Switzerland, advertising cookies may be set by default subject to your local law; you can still opt out of personalised ads via Google Ads Settings or browser controls.

Google AdSense

We are a Google AdSense publisher. Our publisher ID is ca-pub-7858299497134375. Google and its certified partners may use cookies and similar identifiers to:

  • Serve ads based on your visits to this site and other sites;
  • Measure ad performance and prevent fraud;
  • Provide aggregated reporting to us about ad delivery on the site.

See Google's advertising privacy notice and general privacy policy for details on how Google handles this data.

Other third parties

  • Vercel — application hosting and edge delivery. Acts as a data processor for request logs.
  • Neon — Postgres database for storing public article content. Holds no visitor personal data.
  • Cloudflare — DNS and email routing for the contact address. Receives email metadata when you contact us.
  • Google Search Console — used to monitor how the site appears in Google Search. Receives only aggregate, anonymised data.
  • Yahoo Finance and CNN — public market and sentiment APIs called from your browser to display prices and the Fear & Greed Index. Subject to their respective privacy policies.

International data transfers

Our hosting and most processors are based in the United States. Where personal data of EEA/UK/Swiss residents is transferred to the US or other third countries, the transfer is covered by the EU–US Data Privacy Framework (where the recipient is certified) or by Standard Contractual Clauses adopted by the European Commission.

Lawful basis (GDPR)

  • Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) for non-essential advertising and analytics cookies, captured via the Funding Choices CMP.
  • Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) for essential server logging, fraud prevention, and securing the site.
  • Consent / contract (Art. 6(1)(a)/(b)) when you email us, to respond to your inquiry.

Your rights

If you are in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, you have the following rights under the GDPR / UK GDPR. Residents of other jurisdictions may have similar rights under local law (e.g. CCPA in California). To exercise any right, email contact@livemarketsnews.com and we will respond within 30 days.

  • Right of access — request a copy of any personal data we hold about you.
  • Right to rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate data.
  • Right to erasure (“right to be forgotten”) — request deletion of your data where one of the GDPR grounds applies.
  • Right to restriction — ask us to limit processing while a dispute is resolved.
  • Right to data portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
  • Right to object — object to processing based on legitimate interests, including direct-marketing-style profiling.
  • Right to withdraw consent — withdraw any consent you previously gave, at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing. Use the “Cookie preferences” footer link to withdraw cookie consent.
  • Right to lodge a complaint with your national data-protection supervisory authority. EEA residents can find their authority here; UK residents can contact the Information Commissioner's Office.

Data retention

We retain data only as long as necessary for the purpose it was collected:

  • Server access logs: short-lived, on Vercel's standard rolling schedule.
  • Article cache (Neon Postgres): kept indefinitely as it is public news content with no personal data.
  • Contact email correspondence: retained while the conversation is active and for a reasonable period afterwards for record-keeping.
  • Advertising cookies: retention is governed by Google and its partners; see their policies.

Children's privacy

The site is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.

Third-party links

The site links to external news sources and third-party websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites. Review their privacy policies before interacting with them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The updated effective date will be shown at the top of this page. Material changes will be highlighted on the homepage for a reasonable period.
